XTnrgy, LLC ("XT") was formed to develop or acquire district and distributed energy systems.

District energy systems produce energy at a central plant, and distribute this energy, typically in the forms of chilled water and hot water or steam, through underground pipeline loops for heating or cooling multiple buildings such as commercial properties, convention centers and government buildings. Smaller distributed systems serve clusters of buildings such as hospitals, airports, universities, or industrial facilities.

The systems employ "state-of-the-art" cooling (chilled water), heating (steam or hot water) and thermal storage equipment. Electricity may be generated as a by-product of creating steam (CHP), steam and chilled water (CCHP), or by integrating photovoltaic or wind energy systems. In this case, they are referred to as Integrated Distributed Energy Systems (IDE).

The benefits of district and distributed energy do not derive from cost reductions alone, but also from the many other benefits of "outsourcing."

Every potential user must ask the questions: "What am I best at?" and, "Where will I get the best return on invested capital?" The answer to these questions is almost always: "Do what you do best and outsource the rest."
